Apparel Designer
Location: Hybrid in Beaverton (Onsite Monday – Thursday, Remote Friday) Duration: 6 Months Pay: up to $36.50/hour, DOE
Planet Interactive is looking for an Apparel Designer to join our well known retail brand on a 6 month contract! This role is 40 hours per week and will be hybrid in Beaverton, OR.
A key part of this role is understanding the full scope of product creation from design concept to production. The ideal candidate is a creative problem solver and a proactive thinker who thrives in a fast-paced environment. They are an active participant in triad discussions and support the team with technical recommendations that serve consumers.
The team is looking for someone who is an active listener, able to communicate effectively in varied settings and able to influence the team when needed, while demonstrating credibility and reliability; someone who is optimistic, self-aware, embraces change, holds their decisions and actions accountable, will actively seek feedback to grow and develop, values and respects the opinions of their teammates and embraces the diversity of people, ideas, and cultures.
Responsibilities:
Create and update development documentation for factory partners including Bill of Materials.
Participate in proto review sessions and comment on the quality, craftsmanship, and manufacturing feasibility of assigned styles.
Raise awareness of potential quality or manufacturing risks and partner with team to find a resolution.
Track prototypes for styles, meet calendar target dates, attend meetings that relate to product’s development and communicate progress and challenge
Manage assigned styles collaboratively with cross functional partners to bring creative solutions and ensure the finished product meets or exceeds the required end use
Review proto’s and samples, shepherding the styles through the creation process while meeting gates and dates to ensure on-time production
Collaborate with Design, Technical Design, Product Management, Materials, Quality, Color and our factory partners to effectively execute on product development deliverables.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in apparel design textile science or related field.
Two years additional product creation experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Minimum 5 years development experience in the apparel industry which includes the apparel development process from inception through production including construction materials costing manufacturing and quality.
Strong problem solving organization and communication skills.
Experience interpreting design intent and offering alternative solutions.
Understanding of product specs and construction standards instructions.
Experience working with factory vendors to ensure and improve manufacturability.
Ability to manage multiple projects.
Experience using Adobe Illustrator familiarity of CAD Pattern Design software Optitex and 3D software Clo/Browzwear highly desired.
Proficiency with MS Office programs.
Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
