Location:  Boston, Massachusetts
Pay:  Up to $65/hour (DOE)
Duration:  5 Months
 
Planet Interactive is seeking a Director of Product Merchandising to join a global product merchandising team for a well-known company in the retail industry. This is an onsite, contract role based in Boston with the ability to work remotely on Fridays.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative teammate with a history of excellence, strong problem-solving skills, and phenomenal attention to detail. You will need strong leadership skills, organizational skills, a drive to craft outstanding products, and the ability to learn, adapt, and lead quickly. We are looking for someone who can partner effectively with diverse teams around the globe

Director of Product Merchandising Responsibilities:
  • Manage the footwear portfolio for men, women and kids.
  • Lead multiple teammates through the product creation process and partner with cross functional peers.
  • Ensure profitability while delivering fresh solutions for consumer needs.
  • Work on lifestyle and performance product management teams across the genders to ensure alignment.
  • Collaborate with merchanding, design, development, and marketplace on the footwear creation process from line planning through final product approval.
  • Research product, consumer, and marketplace.
  • Manage product creation workflow and data.
  • Maintain product tools.
Director of Product Merchandising Qualifications:
  • 2+ years leadership of multiple direct reports in a fast pace, agile work environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail Merchandising, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+  years' relevant experience in product-related roles.
  • Ability to drive vision and strategy across functions while respecting the balance of competing interests.
  • Experience managing and developing a team of direct reports
  • Keynote presentation building and presenting along with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven experience translating a footwear vision into a multi-year line plan.
  • Passion for skateboarding and sneaker culture.
  • Able to demonstrate a deep understanding of and streetwear consumers (tastes, habits, preferences, interests & behaviors).
  • Franchise, Classification, and Lifecycle Management.
  • Media Event Presenting and interviews.
  • Attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Ability to travel globally up to 20% of the time.
