Title: Learning Experience Designer 
Location: Hybrid in Cambridge, MA
Pay Rate: Up to $54/hr DOE


Planet Interactive's Higher-Education client is in need of a Learning Experience Designer with great communication skills (written, verbal, packaging content, etc.), innovation, change management, strategic planning. This is a month 12-month assignment starting in September 2024!


The Learning Experience Designer will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive training strategy, framework, and curriculum to enhance the skills of our IT Client Services staff, a team of frontline, customer-facing, and technology solutions professionals. The manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams within the Client Services area and leverage industry best practices to develop and deliver training programs that enhance staff capabilities, drive operational efficiency, and support the evolving IT needs of the university community. 

Learning Experience Designer Responsibilities:
  • Develop a strategic training plan that addresses the current and future needs of the IT Client Services staff.
  • Engage with key stakeholders across the organization to gather input, identify training needs, and ensure alignment with departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Develop the training program to support a diverse group of IT professionals, catering to various learning styles and backgrounds. Program should include both soft skills (e.g., communication, teamwork, problem-solving) and technical skills (e.g., system administration, troubleshooting, software use).
  • Work closely with subject matter experts including Human Resources, Communications, and the Center for Workplace Development to develop and validate training content. Ensure the curriculum is aligned with industry best practices and organizational goals.
  • Design training materials and delivery mechanisms, including online courses, workshops, hands-on labs, and self-paced learning modules.
  • Develop and execute a communication plan that includes a catalog of courses to ensure all stakeholders are informed about learning opportunities.
  • Develop dashboards and reports to support a variety of training stakeholders including individual staff, managers, and leadership.
  • Oversee the rollout and implementation of the training programs.
  • Partner with and leverage HUIT’s central L&D team to execute on Client Services training initiatives, including delivery of courses and trainings.
  • Establish metrics and feedback mechanisms to assess the impact of training initiatives, including progress against goals and key outcomes. Analyze evaluation metrics to measure program success.
  •  Other duties as needed or required.

Learning Experience Designer Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required, along with a minimum of five years in training and development and recent experience managing a program of similar size and scope.
  • Master’s degree in training and development (or related area) preferred.
  •  Demonstrated excellence in program management.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, and the ability to effectively organize and display data.
  • Proactive in identifying and communicating issues or barriers that may impede an initiative or compromise its success and critical thinking skills to identify and determine alternative solutions/approaches.
  • Effective communication and influencing skills, both written and oral, with the ability to share information and ideas clearly and concisely with a range of audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Capacity to develop and maintain strong professional relationships across the organization and to work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Experience delivering diversity courses, a plus.
  • A flexible “can do” attitude and approach to the work.
  • Resourceful and able to work independently.
